Last weekend I got the West beam in so this weekend we'll try to get the East beam in so we can put in some of the trusses over the porch.
This weekend we got the sheathing on the rafters over the mud room and got the felt on. It's really great to have part of the garage dry again! The trusses we have remaining are the ones that make the roof over the porch. In order to get the trusses up I'll need to get a beam up on the East side to hang the trusses on. I spent quite a bit of time getting the second beam measured and figured out, but it worked out great. The beam went up, it's nice and level. The next thing to do is get the column positioned correctly to get the beams lined up so the trusses fit correctly. That took a little figuring, but it's up now! ![]() East beam getting positioned into place. ![]() Doing a little bit of trimming to hang a truss. We even got one truss up! That turned out to be easier that I thought it would. Four guys, one rope, and a little bit of heaving. We positioned the truss upside down in front of the building. Next, we lifted one end up, and then the other. One guy on the ground pushed up with a 2x4 and the guy with the rope pulled up and it flipped over into place. No sweat! ![]() Paul doing some trimming. |
