A few more days and we've got some trusses in and two of the three beams that'll hold up the roof.
The kitchen will have three walls. Where the fourth wall would be is the old exterior wall of the living room. That wall comes down eventually to open up the two rooms. The roof still needs some structural support, so I've got to get a double 22 foot, 14 inch deep, LVL beam installed to support the roof on that side of the kitchen. One of the tricky aspects of this is that one end of the beam sits directly over where we want the front entrance to be. So, the front door has a double LVL header supported by double 2x6 columns. Take a look.
The front of the house will have a covered porch. The porch will have three trusses over it, so it needs some beams installed for it as well. We got the first one in today.
